Pee Dee Electric Cooperative Scholarship Program

As a community-minded electric cooperative utility, Pee Dee Electric's commitment to community includes strong educational support in the Pee Dee area.

We are deeply committed to helping young people prepare to successfully compete in the rapidly changing workforce that is developing in the Pee Dee area.

An important part of that support includes the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative Scholarship Program, which is designed to give financial assistance to deserving children of Pee Dee Electric Cooperative's member-owners and employees in their pursuit of a college degree or diploma.

You Should Know
Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Applications for scholarships should be made in a timely manner.

Application is made through the Financial Assistance offices of Francis Marion University or Florence-Darlington Technical College where full information is available.

Incoming freshmen should contact the financial assistance office at FMU or FDTC in early January to get scholarship application deadlines for the following academic year (fall semester).

The scholarships are full-fee, defined as applicable general fees, and do not include text books or room and board. Summer school courses are not eligible for scholarship assistance.

Certain certificate programs and Continuing Education courses are not eligible programs.

Eligibility
Applicants must be a dependent child, up to the age of 25, living in the home of a member-owner who is taking electricity into that domicile from Pee Dee Electric Cooperative, or the dependent child, up to the age of 25, living in the home of a full-time employee.

Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students, carrying at least 12 credit hours per semester.

The Pee Dee Electric Cooperative Scholarship is provided on a semester basis contingent upon the student continuing to meet required criteria.

Criteria
Freshman students must have an entering (high school) grade point average of 2.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale.

Continuing students must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale.

If an eligible student transfers to Francis Marion University from a two-year technical college in South Carolina or from another four-year institution in South Carolina with a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, the student may apply for the scholarship as long as he/she meets all of the stated criteria.
