Washington Youth Tour

Current Date: Friday, September 10, 2010

The annual Washington Youth Tour is a weeklong, all expenses paid trip to the nation’s capital each June for current high school juniors.  The tour will be held from June 12-17, 2010.  Pee Dee Electric Cooperative sponsors two students who join others from electric cooperatives in the Palmetto State and across the nation in Washington, DC for an educational and fun-filled week.  The high school junior must be the dependent of a member-owner of Pee Dee Electric Cooperative.

Students on the tour learn about electric cooperatives, American history and U.S. government. They attend educational events, visit with their legislators in the House and the Senate, and see the sights around Washington, DC.

All students selected to represent South Carolina will not only win the week-long, all-expenses-paid trip, but will also be eligible to apply for a $2,500 college scholarship. Additionally, one student from South Carolina’s delegation will be selected as a representative on the national Youth Leadership Council.

The deadline for 2010 has passed.
